5 Things To Know About PowerPoint Headers And Footers

Powerpoint Header and Footer Slide

Microsoft Powerpoint allows you to include in headers and footers into your presentation slides for better management of your presentation. To maximise the use you can get out of powerpoint headers and footers, here are 5 things you should learn about them that can help:

  1. Edit information (Powerpoint slides)

To change information in your powerpoint headers and footers for your presentation slides, make sure you are either in the normal view or slide sorter view. If you are in the normal view, choose the Outline tab. If you are in the slide sorter view, choose the slides tab. Select the relevant slide you want to edit the header/footer information from. If there are multiple slides you want to change, choose the first slide and press. Hold CTRL to select other slides.

Using the Insert Tab in the Text Group and select Header and Footer. This will open up the dialog box, locate the Slide tab and make the relevant changes. You can either apply to the relevant slide or apply to all of the slides.

  1. Edit information (Printable notes/handouts)

Repeat the steps as discussed in step one to open up the dialog box for headers and footers. This time, choose the Notes and Handouts options to make the changes and apply them. This will make the relevant changes for you. After you have successfully applied them, double check to make sure they are in effect.

  1. Delete Header/Footer (Powerpoint slides)

Make sure that you are either in normal view or slide sorter view again. Choose either outline or slides tabs based on which view you are in and select the slide you want to delete the information from. CTRL and click the rest of the slides that you want to delete information from when applicable. Using the steps covered above, go to Header and Footer and look for your slide tab. Clear the checked option boxes and use Apply or Apply to All.

  1. Delete Header/Footer (Printable notes/handouts)

Repeat the previous steps once more to access the Header and Footer dialog box. This time instead of selecting slide tabs, choose the Notes and Handouts tab and manually clear whatever checked options that you want deleted. After which, simply choose apply to all.

  1. Hide Footer

When you want to hide the footer, choose the Insert Tab once more and choose the slide where you want to hide them. Once you have that done, choose the header and footer tab once more and go to the Slide tab. Uncheck the option boxes next to Date & Time, Slide numbers and Footer. After doing so, click apply or apply to all again.
