5 Microsoft Word Table Sorting Methods To Use
Creating tables in Microsoft Word have never been easier- but the problem lies in data sorting. You want your data represented in concise tables where information can be easily deciphered at a glance. But planning will also have to be taken into account when it comes to sorting through these information.
Here are 5 steps to undertake when it comes to Microsoft Word table sorting:
1. Convert existing Text One of the most convenient Microsoft Word table sorting methods would be to convert already existing text into a table. Choose all the relevant text you want converted and look for the insert tab. Once chosen, look for the table command and choose convert text to table from the list of options the drop down menu contains. This will prompt a dialog box to open- choose one of the options available under separate text at and Microsoft Word will begin data sorting immediately.
2. Table Style When it comes to applying table styles, you can choose from a list of available options. To apply them, you can click virtually anywhere on your Microsoft Word table and choose the design tab that is located to the right of the Microsoft Word ribbon. Locate the group for table styles and click down the list to see what is available for you. Once you have decided on a table style, you can simply click on it and it will appear.
3. Modify After applying the table styles, you can further customise it by modifying it. You reserve the control of activating and deactivating various appearance options for your table style, including: Header rows, banded rows, total rows, first columns, banded columns and last columns. Click anywhere in your Word table again and locate your design tab on the right of your ribbon. You can manually check or uncheck the options in your table style options group and it will be modified. Make sure to test it out until you get the desired modifications. Do know that depending on your table style, certain style options differ from effect to effect so experimentation is required.
4. Borders Choose the select cells that you want to apply your border to and look for your design tab once more. Look for the desired line style, line weight as well as the pen colour- these are the elements needed to create your border. You will be able to find a list of available options through a drop down window as well so choose the border type from the menu and Microsoft Word will handle the rest.
5. Layout tab Alternatively, you can modify your Microsoft Word table using the layout tab too. Selecting your table should enable the layout tab to appear right under your table tools (on the ribbon). Choose the layout tab and you will be able to see and make a range of modifications to your Word table.
