Before you begin exploring all that your MYOB software has to offer, you will be required to set up and install the software into your PC. There are 5 basic MYOB installation steps to heed- once you manage to do so successfully, your software should be able to function to it’s full potential. Here are the steps:
Sign up and create a business to allow the MYOB software to provide a default account set that best suits your business. Provide your company details as well as business type and manage multiple businesses under one username. For referral or activation codes, this is where you enter them. Once you have finished signing up, you will be able to log in and set up your software.
- Basic
The next step in MYOB installation would be the basic set up. Once you have logged in, your dashboard will prompt you with a list of set up tasks where you can complete by setting up in any order as long as you enter the essential details. The prompt will remain until all tasks are finished. You can also choose to fill in and set up other areas as well to help manage your business more efficiently, like bank feed set ups, logo insertion etc.
- Users
Take control of user access by setting up additional users for your colleagues and invite them so they will have access to the data inside. Keep in mind however, that once they gain access, they have full access so preferably keep the circle of users limited to your accountant and book keeper as well as essential team members and monitor it closely.
- Back up
For safety reasons, it’s best to back up your files. Create a back up using the ‘File menu’ and select the option to ‘Back up’. Choose ‘Back up all data’. If you are backing it up externally, select ‘To a disk’ and continue. Save your files and copy the back up to your desktop as well. Creating backups and scheduling for backups at regular intervals are good practices to consider doing since it safeguards your data.
- Restore
MYOB also allows users to restore back ups. Open up a sample file and go to the ‘File menu’ to select the ‘restore’ option. Similarly, choose ‘From a disk’ and select the backup file copy you have. Select open, choose ‘New folder’ and create it. The back up copy will then be restored into the folder you have created.
