5 Day to Day MYOB Processes To Accomplish
Having trouble orienting yourself with the MYOB software? Unsure of what to do now that you are familiar with the interface? Not to worry- here are 5 day to day MYOB processes that you should be touching on and what you should be accomplishing:
- Bank interest Recording
To record bank interest, locate your banking command center and choose reconcile accounts. You can then choose the account and type in the date of the bank statement. After which, choose the actions button and pick bank entry. This will open up the bank and deposit adjustments window for you. Fill in your transaction details and choose record.
- Journal Entries
Keep track of things by using journal entries to get yourself up to date! To create general journal entries, choose the Accounts command center and select record journal entry. This will open up the window for the function. Whenever applicable, choose GST inclusive. You can either accept the general journal number given or set a new number before confirming the journal date. You can then enter a memo to identify the nature and purpose of your reason for the note. Make sure to fill in relevant details and specify which account to credit.
- Form Customisation
To customise the forms, you have to use the Set Up menu. Select customise forms and choose the form type, this will allow the customise forms window to appear. Choose the form you want in the Form to customise section and select Customise. You will then be offered a series of customisation tools and options you can choose to customise your forms with. After which, make sure to save your custom form by choosing save form as so that it becomes a layout.
- Super Payments
In order to pay superannuation, you will have to locate the payroll command and choose pay superannuation. Sign up for a business bank account and you will then be able to review the details. Make sure you check under superannuation funds from the list menu to review it. You will have to make sure the super categories in use are Superannuation type instead of employer expense. Specify super fund in each employees’ card and visit payroll details. Choose Superannuation and enter membership numbers. Process the payrun and save your file by choosing Pay superannuation under the Payroll command menu, then choose save super contribution file.
- Back Up
Look for the File menu option and choose Backup from there, this will open the backup window for your company files. You will then be able to choose the backup type you wish for, if it’s your company file/templates, choose to backup all data. Take a moment to double check your company file for errors before you backup. If everything is alright, choose continue for the next step. The backup window should appear (if you wanted to check your company files, it may take a while to verify first). Make sure you specify where you want to store your backup files. Once you are done, simply choose to save. Backing up is one of the most important MYOB processes to know in case of file corruption so make sure you are familiar with the process.
